FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are Orthotics covered under my insurance?
01
Many third party insurance plans have coverage for custom foot orthotics, orthopaedic footwear, modified footwear and custom footwear from Canadian Certified Pedorthists. All plans across Canada differ so it’s important to look into the specifics in your own plan to confirm your specific coverage. Specifically, you’ll want to review who can refer for foot orthotics and the price range covered. If your insurance plan covers Pedorthic services, you will need to visit your healthcare provider and ask for a prescription.
Individual provinces also have programs in place through WSIB and ODSP, social assistance for patients that qualify. Check with your individual provincial regulations for more information.

During your assessment with Bryan, he will be able to indicate which type of orthotic you will need. However, there are two common base types, which are then further customized to your foot.
Rigid orthotics, or "functional orthotics," are made from materials like plastic or carbon fiber. These types of orthotics are designed to ease foot aches and strains as well as pain in the legs, thighs, and lower back that you might feel if your foot doesn't work like it should.
Soft orthotics, or "accommodative orthotics," are made from soft compression materials. They provide cushioning to take the pressure off uncomfortable or sore spots from conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis or Diabetic foot ulcers. Because of their bulk, you might need to wear soft orthotics with prescription footwear.
